Fifth House
The Fifth House
The fifth house, buddhi, means discriminative intelligence. It relates to the training of our mind and, consequently, our education and learning capacity. This house is also associated with developing our ability to discriminate through meditation, healing affirmations, prayer, and recitation of mantras. The fifth house relates to the passion that moves us to manifest our creativity of mind; in other words, this house is associated with whatever stimulates our mind and moves our hearts. As such, it relates to love, creativity, friendship, and love affairs. It also relates to children. For that reason, the fifth house is also referred to as putra, meaning children. However, putra includes a broader definition of children than physical offspring alone. For example, students that we teach, books that we write, works of art that we produce, and so on, can all be considered our children.
