Uranus

Events, which are sudden, surprising, erratic, and unpredictable, are brought to you courtesy of Uranus. This can, of course, cause more than a little insecurity. Uranus is the planet that can shake us up, figuratively or literally. (It is associated with earthquakes when found in an earth sign. For example, the San Francisco earthquake occurred when Uranus was in Capricorn.)

What else is Uranus associated with? Physiologically speaking, it is associated with the circulatory system, physical changes, cramps, paralysis, and sudden nervous breakdown. At the impersonal level, it relates with modern science, especially space travel, and radio and television transmission. The connection arises because of the charged, electrical quality of Uranus energy. It is a planet that knows thoroughly how to shock us, and its effects are far-reaching and experienced instantly.

Uranus, due to its irrepressible nature, will have as its motto, “expect the unexpected” even when it is well aspected, Uranus spells change and disruption. But it always changes the “status quo” for something new and better. It breaks us out of our rut and forces us to view life from a different perspective.

The positive traits associated with this eccentric planet include a humanitarian bent, friendliness, kindness, universal love, independence, individuality, originality, genius, intuition, love of freedom, willpower, a reforming spirit, and versatility. (It has to have versatility, since change is its stock-in-trade!)

When Uranus is badly placed in a chart, look for rebelliousness, irresponsibility, fanaticism, radicalness, impulsiveness, perversity, and an erratic nature.
