The Aim of Vedic Astrology
The Aim of Vedic Astrology
Vedic astrology shows how to deal with issues in our present life that have resulted from our past thoughts, attitudes, and behavior, and to what degree these issues will be carried forward into the future.
The natal chart reflects our present day thought patterns as well as those issues that have been carried over from the past. These include those that positively influence our behavior, showing that we are on track with our evolutionary, spiritual development, and others that are detrimental to this process, such as subjective, reactive, and non-discerning thinking.
Consequently, through an analysis of our natal chart, we can recognize any patterns that may be impeding our progress. We can learn to reprogram our thinking, enabling us to live more freely and productively in the present, and achieve our heritage “ to be happy”, as stated by the great Indian sage, Swami Yukteswar.
Therefore, as jyotish denotes the ‘eyes’ of the ved purush, the astrological chart gives us insight into our past, our present, and future potentials.
Vedic Astrology is not Fatalistic
Although Vedic astrology can be used as a tool to forecast potential trends, nothing is carved in stone. By analyzing the chart, we are made aware of our potential strengths and weaknesses and with the help of remedial measures, we are able to maximize our strong points and override any negative characteristics. It is our own thoughts that created these tendencies and with awareness, vigilance and willpower, we can create the opposite positive effect.
