Last month, in our series Are You Compatible, we examined the life line and its importance in developing successful relationships. This month, we will look at the importance of checking both hands.

“Which hand do you look at?” is one of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to palmistry. Essentially, both hands need to be studied to understand more about our thoughts and habits stored in our subconscious, and how they influence our will to grow and evolve in the present.

The hand we use to write is the dominant hand. This hand — whether right or left — will show most of the time a more progressive pattern of lines and signs than those in the less dominant hand. This reflects an evolution of consciousness taking place from past, deep-seated, subconscious patterns of thought and behavior toward making more conscious, positive change in the present. The non-dominant hand indicates our ingrained habits stored in the subconscious. How these habits influence the present and future is seen by weighing the strength of our subconscious traits in this hand, together with the progressive influences seen in the conscious, dominant one.
We often call our partner our better half; yet in reality, we are simply looking at the reflection of our own subconscious in the other person. When we attract someone into our life, we are asking to be shown this hidden side that, perhaps on a conscious level, we would have difficulty seeing. Often a marriage or other close relationship begins to deteriorate as we avoid looking at this reflection. It may be too difficult to face our imperfections and make the necessary changes to improve. We might put the blame on our partner, our mirror. We may even move on to someone else only to discover another reflection of ourselves. By recognizing our limitations, as well as our strengths, we can help ourselves and our partner to grow.

With this understanding of the importance of checking both hands to see our evolutionary progress — especially in regards to the quality of our relationships — a look at the quadrangle, made up of the lines of heart and head, is especially important, as it denotes the balance between our thinking and feeling. A comparative analysis of the quadrangle in both hands reveals the evolutionary process unfolding in our emotional makeup. Ideally, the formation of the quadrangle should be improving from the non-dominant to the dominant hand.
Ernst and Nina - Our Partner as our Mirror
Ernst has a thriving practice in alternative healing. He has a healing stigmata, denoting his talent as a healer, a destiny line originating on the mount of Moon, denoting his desire to help and nurture people, and a well-formed quadrangle, reflecting his emotional balance. In her dominant hand, Nina, his wife, has an imbalanced quadrangle, as seen by the short head line, indicating insecurity over the future, including being able to meet their monthly expenses. However, in her non-dominant left hand, Nina has a better-balanced quadrangle, as seen by the longer head line. Although consciously she is insecure, on a deeper subconscious level, she is more confident with her husband’s dedication to his vocation and ability to pay the bills. The short head line in Ernst’s non-dominant hand shows that, at times, he will question his own ability to meet his commitments.

Nature has brought them together to test their ability to evolve and grow. Whose dominant hand will bring out the negative or positive tendencies carried over from the other’s past life? Nina will test his confidence; Ernst will challenge her willingness to let go her insecurities and trust him.

Last month, in our series Are You Compatible, we examined how the head line termination can affect our relationships. This month, we will focus on the profound impact the formation of the head line can have in our inter-relationships.

As we saw last month, the head line is located in the center of the palm and shows how we think. Ideally, it indicates our ability to make decisions based on reason and the potential to be objective. As such, we can weigh the facts in a situation and make objective decisions. We understand the consequences of our actions. We are intelligent, visionary and can have long-range goals and ambitions. As the head line relates to our ability to perceive clearly, its formation shows whether our mind is acting as our best friend or worst enemy, creating harmony or turbulence in our relationships.

head_shapeThe shape of the head line reflects our mental attitude. Rounded lines show flexibility in our attitude, as well as a give-and-take approach towards relationships. A round or curved line shows many lifetimes of experience where we have learned to roll with the punches and, in the process, have gained a lot of empathy, understanding and toleration for others’ ideas and ways of doing things. Even if we don’t always agree, we value the importance of freedom of choice. We believe in equal opportunity and express in our behavior the Indian greeting of namaste, my soul bows to yours. It is important however that the line does not curve so deeply into the Moon, so that our sensitive nature causes us to become hurt from what we perceive as an unfeeling world.

head_shape2When the line is straight, we are determined to hold on to our own point of view. Consequently, it is harder for us to go along with others’ ways of looking at things. When the head line is long and straight, terminating on Mars positive, we are passionate and intense in our approach towards life. We often seek a cause or purpose that we can believe in. However as the nature of the line is straight and not curving, we can be headstrong and unyielding. Consequently our single-mindedness can be detrimental to our relationships. We should make a conscious effort to be more open to the ideas and opinions of others. In this way we will develop a great sense of camaraderie to achieve our goals in an inspirational way.  Also by developing greater empathy our partner will feel more motivated to open up and share their feelings with us.

It is always important to remember that just as we continue to change and evolve, so do the lines on our hands. As our personality matures, our attitudes, priorities, and activities may also change. We may find ourself growing more understanding and empathetic in all of our relationships. These important changes are all reflected in our hands.

Sarah - Change by Wisdom or Experience
Jerry’s wife had been in a coma for many years when Sarah fell in love with him. Although she wanted them to live together, Jerry asked her to be understanding and supportive of his decision to remain fully committed to the care of his wife. However, Sarah was unable to realize that Jerry’s loyalty to his wife was an indication of his profound spirit. Jerry also loved Sarah deeply, but she resented his unwillingness to live with her and nagged him constantly. Sarah’s straight head line indicates her unyielding temperament at that time.

It was only when he died shortly after his wife that Sarah came to understand the depth of Jerry’s friendship and love for her. She was so moved by this realization that her heart melted. She became more loving and gentle and her head line began to curve.
