Myofascial Deep Tissue

Myofascial Deep Tissue Therapy (90 - 180 minutes)

Fascia is the soft tissue component of the connective tissue that holds organs, tissues, and muscles in place. This soft tissue can become restricted due to overuse, trauma, or inactivity, often resulting in pain, muscle tension, and corresponding diminished blood flow.

The human body tries to make up for postural imbalances caused by poor work habits, physical traumas and emotional stress. As a result, the fascia will shrink or stretch as it tries to adapt to the stresses. This deep tissue body work is done without any application of oil. Pressure is applied by the thumb, fingers, elbow or the knuckles to help release ‘holding patterns’ in order to relieve chronic tension and restore balance.

The therapy is not painful as the practitioner moves slowly through the layers of the fascia until the deep tissues are reached. Slow sustained pressure is applied until a resistance barrier is met. The practitioner waits to feel the tension release before going on to deeper layers in order to free up the body.
