Navaratna Purification Technique
Navaratna Purification Technique
The Navaratna is one of the most powerful and effective gem combinations, incorporating an entire range of auspicious and protective planetary vibrations.
It is said to increase our magnetism, whereby our circumstances become more harmonious and we begin to attract more positive situations into our lives.
The following is a quote from the authoritative text, Ratna Pradeep by Dr. G. Kapoor:
“Everyone who wears the Navaratna can experience its countless blessings. These benefits are enhanced when the gems are worn with deep faith after they have been purified with the Navaratna mantra.”
Mantra to Purify the Navaratna
Aum Nava Graha
Nimitte Nava Ratnah
Oopasyati Swaha
Phonetic pronunciation:
Om nava gra/ha
nim/mit/tay nava/rat/nah
oo paws/yaw/tee/swaha
Meaning:
I bow to the inherent energy of the nine gems. I call upon each and every one of the planetary lords to help me activate my energies in all areas of life represented by these gems. I welcome these positive currents to generate greater harmony, health and happiness in and around me.
Ingredients for Purification
2 cups (500 ml) of whole milk
9 tsp of natural yogurt
9 tsp of honey
9 slices of banana, pureed
9 rose petals (preferably red or yellow)
You will also need three bowls, two one-liter (quart) bowls and a smaller 1/2 liter one.
Purification Technique
Begin the ritual, before noon, on a Wednesday. First, in a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together until thoroughly blended. Place the mixture in front of you, slightly to your right. Next, invert the smaller bowl and place it in the remaining larger bowl in front of you just to the left of the bowl with the ingredients. Now place the nine-gem pendant on the base of the upturned small bowl. Using either your fingers or a spoon, you will be taking the liquid from the large bowl on the right and pouring it over your gems. Most of the liquid should wash over the gems and down into the larger bowl.
Sit on a woolen blanket, ideally covered by silk (on the floor or in an armless chair) facing east, keeping the spine straight. Meditate with deep devotion for a few moments. Use your right hand to handle the mixture.
Then, as you begin to chant the mantra, lift some of the mixture out of the bowl and, on the word swaha, pour it over the pendant sitting on the small bowl in front of you. Repeat this procedure 27 times or a multiple of nine — for example, 18, 36, etc., up to a maximum of 108.
After the desired number of chants, remove the pendant from the bowl, wash it thoroughly over running water, and hold it in your right hand. Meditate again for a minimum of 10 minutes and then wear the pendant.
According to ancient tradition, this purification ritual is suggested before wearing a new gem in order to bring its vibrations into harmony with your own. Chanting the mantra increases the beneficial effect of the gems.
